Dentures at Mend Dental

Smiling happy older coupleAt Mend Dental, we want you to be able to show off a beautiful smile for life. If you have lost teeth due to gum disease, damage or trauma, you may be considering a replacement for your teeth. A denture is a quick, simple method that works for nearly everyone who is missing all teeth or some teeth. Our dentures are available in materials including chrome, acrylic or Valplast.

Do You Need Dentures?

A denture is appropriate for a broad range of situations. You may have no remaining teeth and need a full denture or only be missing some teeth, for which a partial denture would be a suitable solution. Dentures will restore your ability to chew and speak. Furthermore, you won’t have to be concerned about a sagging facial profile, as a denture will fill out your cheeks, lips and restore your jaw height.

The Process of Getting Dentures

There are two different steps to getting dentures. During the first phase, you’re examined and impressions are taken of your mouth. During the second, you’ll have your dentures fitted to you. At your initial appointment, we’ll create the impressions that our laboratory needs to custom-make your dentures, complete with our instructions. Then, you’ll have a trial fitting to make sure you’re satisfied with the way your denture fits and feels. If so, the laboratory will complete the final steps.

You may need to return periodically for adjustments. Just like a new pair of shoes can require some time to get used to, dentures can, too. You won’t be charged for any of these follow-ups after you’ve gotten your dentures.

Denture Alternatives

If you’re not sure that you’re ready for a denture, ask our dentists about alternatives such as dental implants or a fixed bridge. In some cases, dentures can be secured on top of implants for added stability and comfort.
